THE SILENT ERUPTION

You sit in a corner and wonder where such power erupted from. No, how it got into the veins and arteries of these angry mammals standing on two feet. Not that it is of any concern, but sometime, we just have to question things that are beyond our understanding. Come to think of it, how is anger manufactured in our systems? I mean, the worst type of anger like that of an angry woman (whoever came up with that understanding might have sought the help of the angels because i definately know nothing about how an angry one looks).

Imagine a situation where someone is standing at an angle of 120 degrees infront of you, brick-red eyes glaring at you, mouth foaming, a number of veins bulging continuously at the forehead with each word being thrown at you( and you hope that it won't burst, spluttering blood all over your face), arms akimbo with the fingers seriously making strange shapes and feet making out a shape of a bow. I would say a kid will flee to safety but someone else may be bold enough to continue standing there but with his head bowed, not daring to make any eye contact with the scary monster before him.

The wrath of an angry human is so great that i sometime wonder why it has never moved mountains. Had it been that super natural, some of us could be dangling off some tall, steep rock or floating aimlessly in space. The only thing that this thing can do is command someone to do anything, no wonder students can demand to be taken for a trip that has been postponed so many times and the school authorities oblige without thinking twice!..

PRE-EXAM FEVER.

They are now around the corner moving at a pace that Pamela Jelimo will feel threatened. Each step brings tension to the students of whom a majority are half ready for them. Its now a matter of days before the first lot sit their end of semester exam and its easy to tell where they are if they are absent from their rooms. The library gets so filled with students that spiders suffocate. In fact, if an inspector comes around at that time to do his/her staff, a recommendation for the expansion of Margaret Thatcher Library will be immediately passed across.

Supplementaries are the most feared in a campus institution. Talk of redoing a course that you were taught a couple of months before! For that reason, students read not only to fully grasp knowledge but also to skip the supplementaries.

To all those sitting their exams soon, SUCCESS...

FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN.

You wobbly stand before stone faced members of a panel to present your project and a second thought swiftly flashes through your mind and you think that maybe the whole project idea was a mistake. The introductory part of your project has some humour in it but the stone faced creatures don't even blink, let alone smile. Maybe they are statues, you console yourself. You gather the little courage that is within you and proceed, as two pairs of eyes from each creatures focus on you as if you are beyond their understanding.

Your heart starts thundering and both fear and tension slowly creeps into your flesh. You falteringly proceed and a couple of minutes later on, you can't even hear your own voice. You clear your throat but that can't help with the awkward situation. You take a glance at the pair of eyes staring back at you in an effort of analyzing the situation only to realize that they are void of expression.

A small voice deep within your mind seems to encourage you to proceed but the flesh is unwilling to do that. You start feeling as if you are in an oven, the surroundings too hot to bear and a trail of sweat starts trickling down you neck. Your legs at this moment are declaring war over the body that is getting heavier with each passing moment and you shift your weight over one leg in an effort to find comfort. Your fingers get so cold and sweaty that you fear you getting a fever.

You think that this is the end of you and the career that you studied so much for, spending sleepless nights at times in an effort of fully grasping the white man's knowledge. You start thinking that you are a loser. The small voice again urges you to proceed, you try to focus on the words at the screen of the laptop but they now seem to be dancing and making funny faces at you. Tears start forming in your eyes and you are about to give up when you suddenly hear one of the panelists say, "That is one awesome drawing."

You snap out of your self pity world, a smile forming at the tips of your mouth and you don't know how you covered the rest of the presentation in such a short time, panelists nodding at each word that you say. Of course, the smiles that they offered you at the end spoke volumes; you did an awesome job.

Every experience is worth a penny.

STAY SAFE

The current society is unpredictable and anything can happen at any time without warning and we don't need academics or any other qualification to be ready. The media always get us updated on what is happening on a day to day basis and we hear stories of an individual that was robbed or attacked or even murdered(God forbid!).

Kenyan campuses also have a share of these incidences and students have to always be careful with the company they keep, their neighbours (i don't only mean those who live near them) and the environment within which they operate. There are incidences where students are attacked at night and possessions like phones or laptops robbed of them.An incident, courtesy of 3rd eye, occurred the night before 14th of July,2016 where a gang of 6 attacked a house in the E houses residential, stabbing one of the occupants in the long run.

Lets all be careful and be each others keeper. Remember, safety first starts with you.

GIVE US A BREAK!

Its time we stopped fussing about the past and focus on the future. For a couple of weeks now, social media platforms are afloat with all sorts of information about the six Kenyatta University students that got involved in a grisly accident that took the lives of almost all of them at Kisii when traveling to a white party in celebration of a friend of theirs who had just graduated.

Let the dead rest in peace and let us allow their families and friends pass through this sorrowful phase without being shaken by publication of story after story that are deamining in nature. In fact, let us not share such publications in various platforms as it adds injury to a healing wound. There is an end to everything and it is so awful coming across some eye catchy headlines whose writers are convinced enough that they have unraveled something new on either of the victims a couple of weeks down the line.

Remember, do your neighbours what you expect them to do if you were in their shoes!

SWEETNESS OF CAMPUS POLITICS.

"Igweeeeeeeee (king)", the enchanted crowd shouted. Lucky you if they referred to you as that as it was just so obvious that you are the man of the people.Others recoiled back to their inner shelves when they heard something like " huwezi make(you won't make it), jinunulie shati ingine(buy yourself another shirt)" or a frown from the crowd when they stood at the podium to speak. Monday,11th of July marked a special day in the arena of campus politics as aspirants and supporters moved in large numbers with the intention of getting heard and making it in this academic year's Moi University Student's Organization(MUSO) leadership.

The 'kamukunji' that was held on that specific day attracted an awesomely huge number of students, others into politics while others probably just attending it to shout and throw stones at any other human being at their vicinity. The introduction of the aspirants of the chair docket resulted in a wild reaction from the crowd and that is when everyone proved that athletics is still part of their system as the crowd dispersed towards various directions, racing as if demons had broken loose as stones from only God alone knows rained on them . Luckily enough, no one got hurt with the exception of the fact that others lost one of their shoes if not both.
This is what makes campus politics both intriguing and interesting!

THE ANGRY INTRUDERS

Clapping and loud laughter forms a halo around you and you are just in one of the best moods. It's been ages since you laughed so loud and you wish that the moment will last forever. You are oblivious of your surrounding and you don't even notice the beautiful things that always attract your eyes, nature. The school lawn is always well kept, of course the caretaker believes in responsibility and hard work.Today, the flowers are in full bloom and the place looks like paradise but you don't even notice all that.

Suddenly, you hear something.Buuuuuuuz, ziiiiiiiiiiiii, the sound is not that clear or rather indistinguishable. Laughter dies so quickly within a blink of an eye. This is when you look around and notice that the rest of the people in the compound are long gone and you and your friends are the only ones left. Your heart starts beating so hard that it seems it wants to burst out of your body and flee to safety. Your friends disperse and run towards different directions and since fear coupled with tension has taken control of you, you remain rooted to the spot.

It is at this moment that you locate the intruder, in fact not just an intruder but intruders. They are hovering around your head and face as if declaring a war on you in their best of languages. You think you detect a frown and hatred in the intruders, their slender, spiky feet ready to land on you before finally attacking. You close your eyes, praying that the unwelcome intruders will vanish but they still stick around.Your friends call out to you and you don't even hear what they are saying as your mind has also shut down.A sixth sense tells you that the intruders are increasing in number and you finally brim with courage, leap and and race out of the compound as if demons are a step behind, the intruders effortlessly trailing behind you. Later on, you don't make out how you lost them but just thank your lucky stars that you didn't get hurt at the end of it all. To date, you hate bees with passion that even a consumption of their honey causes an allergic reaction from your body.

HUMANS FROM HELL.

There are nine planets in this universe, as the scientists put it. We live on earth, apart from the fact that some scientists believe that there is a possibility of some other planets sustaining human life and that is a mystery i have always tried to battle. Lets look at it this way, what if some humans were green in color, with coal red eyes and yellow blood! Man, i would run for the hills even if i dreamt of such a creature.

In that case, some people behave as if they just descended on earth from some other planet, probably Jupiter(no special connection to it) and behave as if the demon himself blew them off to terrorize the humans. They seem to have a different heart all together; one that is of a rough texture, having long green suckers protruding out of its surface and pumping out venom instead of oxygenated blood. That is not even enough, it seems to frown and get so inflated with hatred at the sight or nearness of a fellow human that getting close to such an individual is like walking on the tips of a thousand nails.

I was in one of the local hospitals a couple of days back when an elderly man, bent over on a walking stick that carried plenty of years down its outline appeared from the entrance. He looked haggard and another step from him could signal a collapse from his feeble frame.I expected a nurse or some doctor to rush over to his aid with the fact that he was even unaccompanied. No one seemed to pay attention to him and even the nurse at the front desk feigned preoccupation. One of the patients had to rush forward and help him out, beg with fellow patients to allow the man get serviced without having to queue as he was in a critical state. The outrageous thing is that the attending nurse refused to attend to him and told him to go queue and wait for his turn. Seriously speaking, such people need to style up. Why can't the sun just sniff out the bad people out here and pull them off towards it where they end up getting fried up and turning to ashes instead? After all, they are no worth hanging around.

The good and factual thing is that, every dog has its day.
