HOW I DREAD MONDAY MORNINGS!

I woke up with a start but my body felt so tired, my eyelashes held tight onto each other and i turned and fell into another heavy sleep.
     "Shazy, wake up,"i heard a voice from a distance.

 on opening my eyes, i realized that a strong beam of light dominated in my room. My roomy was at my bedside, asking whether i was feeling alright. On having a glance at my watch, i then realize that its 9am. Its a Monday morning and i have a presentation to make, in fact, 9 am is when the presentation begins.

I Get out of bed, did a passport and in less than 10 minutes, i was on my way to the lecture hall. The room was packed and the lecturer was already in. The glare on the lecturer's face upon my entrance was enough proof that i was in deep, serious problems. What followed is something that does not go well with the late commers and i am damn embarrassed to type it in here.

I am sure that this is not a problem to me alone, Monday mornings are the worst times for a regular student like me. Sleep seems so precious at that time that its not a guarantee that one will wake up early. Anyway, i learnt a lesson that morning, and i "swear by my unborn children" that i will never condone lateness again on a Monday morning.

AMAZING MEN SUNDAY SERVICE.

 “MAKING OF MAN,” the topic of the service was uttered by everyone who set foot on the Grace Chapel’s pulpit. For the past two days, there had been a seminar organized by the leaders of the chapel for all the men in campus.

The service was fabulous, men, who were dressed to kill, were in control of everything from the beginning to the end. The angels of heaven are gifted in melodious singing but our men tried during the service. A crescendo rose, followed by another and by the end of their song presentation, the congregation was on its feet, singing along.

“Being in a pair of trousers does not prove your manhood,” Mr. Too said. “Ladies do put them on nowadays,” he went on. The speaker of the day Mr. Masinde then went ahead to state how one can be a man;

Ø Think great things
Ø Read great books
Ø Pursue great people and choose friends wisely; not by default
Ø Be a dreamer
Ø Pray great prayers
Ø Take great risks
Ø Make great sacrifices
Ø Enjoy great moments regardless of what you are going through.
Ø Empower great people
Ø Great people develop great habits

Many were greatly blessed and are looking forward to more of these.

MASS MOVEMENT.

Lorry after lorry are speeding towards the institution’s main gate. This is not something that happens regularly but I grew curious (after all curiosity did not kill the cat). The lorries were heavily loaded with all sorts of items and I kept wondering whether the institution was shifting some of its assets to a different location.
On further probing, I came to realize that Moi University staff were moving out of where they lived. It’s quite a pity but when something has been passed by those in authority, everyone has to obey it.

The institution had passed a message to them that they were supposed to vacate their residences within the institution by Monday, 16th of March. A majority had not done so and as the deadline approached, they were forced to do all that they could to be out of the institution hence the high number of lorries.

SIGNS OF AN APPROACHING WEEKEND.

“Dalili ya mawingu ni mvua (clouds are the signs of rain),” they say. There are specific things that seem to tell what is way ahead. I know you are not getting me here, let me give a scenario. On the eve of a graduation day, its always a tradition that tents are already pitched on the graduation ground and when one sees that, then he/she is sure that a graduation is to be held the following day.

In campus, it is so easy to know that a weekend is approaching. A few signs that signify that a weekend is around the corner are as follows;

 1) Hanging lines are full, I mean to the brim.
The hanging lines are always almost empty but as the weekend approaches, it all of sudden gets full, with all sorts of washed clothes.

 2) Students are seen leisurely walking in groups.
Monday morning looks like the pavements are infested by feet-biting bugs because almost everyone walks alone at a very fast pace until others even fall because of that.

 3) Official attire in students are rarely seen.
As the weekend approaches, one can easily know that this is a campus. Mondays and Tuesdays have students dressed very officially that they can be confused for employees rushing off to their respective places of work.

 4) Lecture halls are less than a quarter full.
Many students adore their sleep towards the weekend and skipping one or two lectures is not that much a big deal.

 5) “F2”, “kadundaa” and “frakaz” are common clichés.
As the weekend approach, you hear Johnny saying that he is off to frakaz, Joan off to F2 and others to attend a kadundaa. Basically, everyone wants to have fun.

I know you can agree with me on that.
