FOOD FOR THOUGHT.
An event that i attended over the week had me thinking over and over again. I believe that each one of us has something that he/she likes doing, let me just say that something that we are passionate about. When you go out there into the streets, it is common to find different people doing different jobs, be it a well paying job or a job with low pay. The way they do it,i mean wholeheartedly, proves the fact that they love the job. There is this programme aired at a local radio station that states that "kazi ni kazi" meaning that there is no work/job considered more important than the other; all at the end of the day are considered to be work done.
Currently, we are students and a few years down the line, we too shall be engrossed in our jobs. My elder sister pursued a course at a Kenyan University and got a well paying job thereafter after swimming in the pool of knowledge. The most surprising thing is that she later quit the job and pursued something that is totally different from that which she did while in campus. This happens all around us, a person occupying an enviable position decides to call it quits and starts building something else from the scratch.
Its always advised that we pursue a course on what we love so that we shall enjoy our work when we practically get to do it. We all have a great role to play and the output at the end of the day will determine how good we are. All jobs are important for if people were only concentrated in one area, then the other will be doomed. This works just as the human body works, the brain cannot function without a heart and the heart cannot function without a stomach, they all depend on each other. A writer once quoted that everyone has been made for some particular work and the desire for that work has been put in every heart
Lesson; lets learn to appreciate the work done by those around us, from the "mama mbogas",janitors, those cleaning our residences, drivers & conductors to our lectures.

You know all people who succeed in life is because of their passion to what they do, so even a shoe polisher is a successful person in life and should never be looked down upon
ReplyDeleteWe as human beings cannot survive o our own like islands.Without that 'mama mbogas' we cannot have sukumas to escort ugali. Its also good that parents allow their sons and daughters to pursue courses they have passion for rather than force them to take courses which they believe suits their children. At the end,the situation of "love what you do and do what you love" will not just be a mere utterance.
ReplyDeletemary, yeap whether you are working in an office or in the open air, neither is special than the other.
ReplyDeleteRugiri, and no regrets will ever be heard again.
