GOSSIP FOR LEISURE?

It’s a Sunday afternoon and I can’t help it but stay indoors, the sun is scorching and the thought of taking a stroll is the last item in my agenda. I decide to take a nap but I give up on that since my roommate is seriously snoring, the next snore getting louder than the previous one.

There is this huge cypress tree outside my hostel and its shade is quite refreshing, so a thought strikes my mind and I rush out there. A number of ladies, in groups are seated under the shade, chit-chatting away.

Lady 1, “I can’t believe that she went to live with him, she is such a fool. Hata after kubootiwa bado anarudi tu kwa uyo boy (even after she had been ditched, she still went back to live with him).”

Lady 2, “That guy is loaded, that’s why she went back to him.”

Lady 3, “She loves money by the way, hyo si mapenzi (that is not love). Sam is not the right guy for her, hata sura yake haileti shangwe (his looks are not that captivating).”

Lady 1, “At least everybody realizes that, he is ugly…………………..”

The gossip went on and on, with me eavesdropping to each and every word. My conclusion is that ladies, when in groups always end up gossiping about one thing or the other and the famous topic in campus is that to do with love and relationships.

I had been bored but I went back to my room smiling, once in a while recalling the ladies’ conversation and I made a resolution, I will frequent the spot, not because I love gossip but because my days on earth will keep increasing ,with each visit to the spot.

  1. Gossip is their to keep life moving, how can you go to an hotel, buy tea without escort and manage satisfaction? Gosssip will be the best escort at the moment

  2. Mary, if its a healthy one, then that will not be a problem but if it courses some discomfort especially to those being gossiped about, then it will be better if we did away with it.
