Lorry after lorry are speeding towards the institution’s main gate. This is not something that happens regularly but I grew curious (after all curiosity did not kill the cat). The lorries were heavily loaded with all sorts of items and I kept wondering whether the institution was shifting some of its assets to a different location.
On further
probing, I came to realize that Moi University staff were moving out of where
they lived. It’s quite a pity but when something has been passed by those in
authority, everyone has to obey it.
The institution had passed a message to them that they were supposed to vacate their residences within the institution by Monday, 16th of March. A majority had not done so and as the deadline approached, they were forced to do all that they could to be out of the institution hence the high number of lorries.
Hope the University did offer alternative settlement places....not just evacuating them.
